We’re deep believers in divine alignment, and the story of how Soul Shine Birth came to be is proof of just that.

In 2020, Kelsey returned from a seven-month soul-searching journey around the world. Though she had once built a life in software sales, she knew in her bones that her true purpose was to support women and offer healing through her hands and heart. Upon returning to the US, she had a dream that would change everything: the sacred doula path called to her. Just three days later, she met Rori at a casual doula meet-up.

Rori, already four years into her doula journey, had just come from an incredibly empowering birth—and her birth high was radiant. The moment we connected, there was an unspoken recognition, the kind that also happens when clients feel drawn to us: an energetic “yes.” It didn’t take long to discover how much we shared—similar visions, aligned values, parallel roots. It felt like our souls had known each other in another lifetime.

From the beginning, we carried the same inner knowing: this sacred work isn’t meant to be done alone. Just as it takes a village to raise a child—and a mother—it takes a village to sustain the heart of a birth worker. Together, we began to dream into being a different kind of doula care: personal, holistic, soulful and expansive.

For Kelsey, this calling took on even deeper meaning through her own conception journey. After being told she may never conceive and facing the emotional weight of a premenopausal diagnosis, she followed an inner pull toward deep healing. That path led her to Oaxaca, where a Shaman offered words of affirmation and hope. In time, she conceived her rainbow baby—miraculously due on the same day she had previously experienced a miscarriage the year prior. Her path has been marked by loss, surrender and renewal, all of which deepen her ability to hold space for others. She knows what it means to move through uncertainty, to grieve, and to rise again—transformed and illuminated.

This lived experience is at the heart of our practice. We’re not just doulas—we’re space holders, story keepers and sacred witnesses. Every birth we attend is unique, and every mother we serve is met with reverence and compassion. Together, we are creating a community where women feel empowered to trust their intuition, reclaim their voice and embrace the wisdom of their bodies.

Soul Shine Birth was born from a vision of intimate, soul-led support. Today, we bring our unique gifts and over a decade of combined experience into a dynamic duo approach that feels like having both a guide and a sister by your side. Our offerings have expanded to include comprehensive childbirth education, placenta encapsulation, blessingways and a vibrant community space for connection and healing.

We’ve cultivated a team of sixteen incredible doulas, served over 450 families and spent years refining our educational curriculums with heart and intention. We gather our community often, both in-person and online, and are always evolving to serve this sacred work more deeply.

 

While our meeting was serendipitous, the path we’ve walked together is one of fierce devotion. This is more than a profession—it’s our calling. It’s our joy and privilege to hold, love and support you!
